My short take: All survivalism is bushcraft, but not all bushcraft is survivalism. Bow drill fires fall under bushcraft. I guess they're kinda cool, but if I have to make a bow drill fire then I failed to prepare at the most basic level

I'm in Florida, for simplicity I mostly run Iron Sights, with tritium in them. Yes I have a Acog but the odds of getting a long shot out here is next to never, he'll a good 9mm is almost more suitable. I use the Tavor x95 in .300blk just because it has more merits for me. My expirience?! I was a Instructor at FT Sherman Panama jungle school.

Some time ago (and still necessary) I've had to calm some people down who would get a bit too excited at the thought of those _Purge_ movies happening in real life. Improbable but not impossible. It'd have to require masses of people losing their minds and causing a ruckus to kick things off. The local LEOS would see this as a typical riot and respond accordingly to shut it all down. Humanely. By the thousands? Okay, that's when martial law's declared and the military moves in. Checkpoints and curfews are initiated making sure no one is out without reason, lest they're arrested or gunned down. Suppose this happens in big/small cities and towns all across the nation. Now we have a real problem. With a bunch of nutcases armed with weapons out on the streets with the intent to cause harm/destruction? Outnumbering the law and military 40 to 1? Yeah, time to pack it up, head back to base then maybe head home to protect their own families from the chaos. That's when our supplies will come in handy for sure. Hypothetical situation aside, this could happen post-disaster in a "troubled" community. We often see the result is people everywhere doing their part to see everyone is fed/watered and has somewhere to sleep. Power outage in the 'Hood for more than a weekend? Hell hath no fury like an angry black woman being pushed to her limits. Here's hoping the worst should never come. The threat of potential nuke EMPs has been exhausted for near a decade and I've grown weary of it. Likely it won't. Still, better to stack everything up for other sakes. After all, don't you just hate running out of an ingredient and need to make special trips to the store? Not when you have a dozen jars of it ready to go.

We can see a long way out here and when we go out and train, my group of friends are pretty good at the distances we would be shooting animals at. Great video, you don’t need the $4k rifle. Commando Joe will get you killed, you want to b,”Poor Refugee”’ nothing to see here, nothing to steal, armed, and armored yes, but unobtrusive. If you are carrying your self as, “Poor Refugee” , the odds are any confrontations you get in will be close, read that as handgun shootout range, and your object is to avoid confrontation if you can, remember, things are raggedy, No EMT’s or trauma centers, operational, so you want to be very aware of your surroundings. Should you have a long gun, yes, in a bag configuration, or a Stocked pistol configuration, for longer shots, the object is to show no visible weapons until the fight starts. Remember surviving Raggedy is more about acquiring supplies, growing crops, getting clean water, and fire wood to keep your house warm, then fighting gun battles.

LOL Just how I am on the set-up...I believe it's a good idea to have one...Just in case...Better to have than not. My set-up is that I'll have one on me plus an IFAK...But Saki, my dog has her pack on, when we are out in the wilderness. Her pack kit is way bigger, as she carries a 200 piece IFAK (Medical Kit) and her pack has one TQ...My belief here is that if I go down hard...The main first aid kit is coming to me on four legs! She's my six! 😉

Funny how different SHTF prepper try to explain this. Some speak and only give little details. Some just say it like it will be. If you live in a big city and surrounding suburbs. You gone. Gangs and guns will be raiding your house. National guard and military will just walk in and take your stuff. It’s going to be people who bug out with a military compound who will be surviving.

lol, actually you’re correct! My family lives in a suburb of Maryland, about 20 min outside of DC (by car), and in a very Democrat stronghold county. MS-13’s Captain lived on our street, just to give some context. Despite the 1000+% uptick in crime since certain folks in the City voted to defund the Police, to where they cannot even meet recruiting standards, there’s tons of calls for OD’s. Especially on my family’s street and areas just north of us (residential area). Narcan gets used like it’s going out of style. DC even installed vending machines that have Narcan in them! LOL. I do carry a small kit with tourniquets (2 types), and an Israeli bandage along with small items for wound prep/clean. My area does have a higher knife use in crimes, more than guns (Maryland has some of the strongest gun laws in the East Coast, not sure if New York is worse). Our EMS’s are real godsends though. I donate to them as often as I can when I’m stateside and not away on deployments (Priv-Mil Contractor).

Bandaids ( do yourself a favor get the cloth type) antiseptic cream Iodine for aftercare- apply more antiseptic cream and a fresh bandaid after that. So what have i done after 45 years of working thus far.+15 years of being a dork. Trapping, hunting, forestry, Earth moving, agricultural implement manufacturing, pest control,Off roading- all types , motocross, Tradesman carpenter, Drainage, general construction . That's the short list. FYI i have 3x TQ's 5 fire extinguishers (one is a refillable pressurized water only type) And 7 general first aid kits.(most of which are expired by ten years)

Militias dont usually have medical chain of care and that seems to be what you are talking about. Primary care and nurses will know how to handle sprains, ticks, tetanus and taping cuts. Getting good at ordinary shit involves actual competence in medical care. Like becoming a nurse. Moreover: Whoever gets shot needs a surgeon. If you are a militia you probably dont have facilities, doctors and medical supplies to have your buddies operated. That will be serious detriment to your overall morale and determination of the militia.

I’m an 18+ yr Private Military Contractor that operates primarily in warzones in Africa and Mid. East. Even I, as Squad Leader, learned from a previous Combat Medic on how to stitch a wound by practicing on a cheap cut of meat. I’ve enough confidence that I could handle wound care if the role wasn’t filled in the moment. Basic medical care and practice is extremely underrated when talking about survival - period- regardless of the overall situation! Everyone should know at least basic survival skills.
